WML Voluntary Work

WML are proud to have been given the opportunity to be part of an ambitious project to renovate disused and dilapidated terraced properties, on Canada Street and New Street in Manchester’s Newton Heath, to create homes for ex-Service veterans. This project is on behalf of the charities Walking With The Wounded and Haig Housing, supported by Manchester City Council, and it includes fully refurbishing and converting seven empty houses into three adapted homes for wounded veterans and their families, together with an office and therapy centre. In addition, the whole terrace is to be given a “facelift” and the street is to be made more resident-friendly to improve the general environment. We have contributed as part of the project design team, working on a voluntary basis, along with a considerable number of large and small contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and service-providers to bring this scheme to fruition, on a very tight timescale. The project will feature as part of BBC One’s programmes ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build Veteran’s Special’.http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.ukews/greater-manchester-news/diy-sos-veterans-village-completed-10145800http://www.bbc.co.ukews/uk-34333437
